Martyrdöd complete work on their fifth album, Elddop, due for release on Southern Lord in August – UK + European tour dates approaching

Martyrdöd have completed recording their fifth album, Elddop, at Studio Fredman – the follow up to the powerful declaration of political rage that was Paranoia in 2012.

The band’s fifth LP is the most emotionally intrusive record of the Swedish four-piece yet. Relentlessly forcing its way into the most obscure corners of the human mind, Elddop challenges the darkness by way of confronting it, and thus already pierces its way through the black, towards spiritual release.

The daring 14 song record allows Martyrdöd to elaborate on some of the musical themes and influences that have long characterised their sound. Securely placed in traditional Swedish hardcore punk such as Anti-Cimex, Martyrdöd stands on the shoulders of giants, seeing further, wanting more. Enchanting melodies and Bathory-esque folk music finds a perfect fit in war charged d-beat mayhem.
They have also recruited Fredrik Reinedahl on bass, who has stacked up production and engineering credits for bands, Sólstafir, Abandon, Burst, Crowpath, Dimension Zero, Gadget and Memfis to name a few.

Southern Lord shall release the CD on 21 July, with the LP release sometime in September. There shall be a special European version of the vinyl coming out on La Familia Releases & D-takt & Råpunk. This release comes as perfect timing as the band shall be touring the UK and Europe with Converge throughout August, a great opportunity to hear their new songs live.

Made up of some of crust’s top combatants (Agrimonia, Miasmal, Skitsystem), Martyrdöd fuse black metal, crust punk and unfathomable darkness to staggering effect, and have put out some of this millenium’s most intense records, including the game-changing In Extremis, and the aforementioned Paranoia, which saw them expand their sound with more dynamic leads, empowering dis-harmonies and tension-filled buildups than ever before. The band have built up a brutally-diehard fanbase in the underground, and they are truly unstoppable live, make sure you can get to one of these dates.

“While most crust acts will be content to just be crust, the genre should look to Paranoia as a starting point for its lifeblood and future.” – 5/5 TERRORIZER

“Fun, if not completely mind-blowing.” – METAL HAMMER

“Thanks to its sheer unyielding brutality, Paranoia simply obliterates the competition.”
– RECORD COLLECTOR

“These bile-encrusted missives are the speciality of these beasts of burden, they drip with sweat, with kineticism, and with a passionate uniformity that underpins every downstroke and drumbeat. There is not a hair to be found out of place.” – ROCK-A-ROLLA

“Merciless and relentless in its unrelenting fury, Paranoia is a no-frills affair which heads right to the point of full-frontal assault without taking any prisoners. This one is satisfying and sadistic to the core.”
 – ZERO TOLERANCE
